IMPS Gala 2017

Swimmers from Dawlish Swimming Club took part in a friendly IMPS Gala at Exmouth on Sunday 12th February.

Swimmers from the club in the 9 to 13 year age groups, many of whom had not competed in galas outside of the club before, spent the evening at Exmouth Leisure Centre, competing against other clubs from Exmouth, Torquay, Exeter, Kingsbridge and Sidmouth.

The gala covered a combination of individual and team relay events, the atmosphere was great with tremendous team support, producing excellent swims allowing our swimmers to achieve 84 Personal Best times, earning them fourteen 1st places, twelve 2nd places,  and three 3rd places helping Dawlish to achieve an overall second position.

Coach Chris Chappell, was really proud of the team’s performance, commenting there were lots of personal best times, solid points scored from the Girls backed by a lot of good first time swims from the Boys, most of whom swam well out of their age group. There was a Great team spirit as always and heads never went down, which contributed to take us from 5th place on the penultimate points call to an outstanding 2nd place at the end of the final results ….Brilliant

And a huge thank you to all the coaches, officials and parent volunteers who gave up there time to help on the day, without your help and support these events cannot go ahead.
